Elevatorz Featured On Big Fish Games

Friday, December 14th, 2007

My latest flash game Elevatorz is doing rather well. A few weeks ago it was already the featured game on the sites of the SpillGroup network. And today, it is the Featured Online Game in the online games section of Big Fish Games! Big Fish Games is a very big and important games portal, so needless to say I’m very proud about this! :)
Here’s a screenshot of their site, showing the great logo they made for the game:

Yesterday they also added my first flash game Enigmatica to their site. I recently made a deal with them that allows them to put a customised version of all my games on their site. Since they have a huge audience that likes casual games, this is great exposure and a good fit for my games!

New Flash Game Released: Elevatorz

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Yesterday I released my latest flash game, named Elevatorz. It’s a mini action/skill game, based on the classic mac shareware game Social Climber.

In Elevatorz, you must help Mr. Jitters to reach his office at the top of the building, before the time runs out. Since he’s afraid of elevators, he has to cross each floor and use the ladders to get to the next floor. But be careful not to hit one of the moving elevators, as they will knock you out for 3 seconds!

Credits for the graphics go to Israel Lazo from CerebralGames, and music credits go to Matthew Okun, aka mouse63 on NewGrounds, for his splendid song Wah Wah!

Elevatorz is my entry for the MochiAds contest. There’s $5000 in cash and prizes to win, so it can’t hurt to try! :)

If you have an online games site, you can put Elevatorz on it for free! Just download this game package with the swf and thumbnails. More games are available on the SmileyGamer Free Games For Your Site page.

Elevatorz is also available for non-exclusive site-locked licensing. This has the added advantages that the game will be branded for your site, that the in-game ads (MochiAds) will be removed and that the game will be integrated with your highscore system! Contact me for more info!

New Flash Game Released: Smiley Puzzle

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

I have finally done the thing I never expected to do: I made a match-3 action puzzler!

Smiley Puzzle is inspired by the popular games Chuzzle and Fairies. Slide the rows of smilies to form groups of 3 or more smilies of the same color. There are bonuses, combo’s and special items to spice things up. Beat all 24 levels of the Challenge mode, or have endless fun in the Relaxed mode!

Some people might recognize the smiley graphics from the original Smiley Puzzle Project, that was supposed to become a game based on the Enigmatica mechanism.

For now, Smiley Puzzle is exclusively available on the SmileyGamer arcade. It’s our second game featuring the cool 3D rendered smilies, which are also the logo of the SmileyGamer site. The first one, Smiley Memory, recently had quite a succesful public release, after a period of exclusivity. Both games are available for licensing, and a free version of Smiley Memory is available for download. Check out our Games For Your Site page for more info!

Smiley Memory Released: The Coolest Memory Game Ever!

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Finally! The coolest memory game ever has been released to the public! For those who haven’t read my blog yet, Smiley Memory is a challenging memory game, in the popular action puzzler genre. Find the matching pairs of smileys before your lifebar runs out. But beware, making mistakes will make it run out faster. And worse, when the shorter movebar runs out, the smileys will start to move around! Give it a try here or here.

The game was already finished for a while, but due to negotiations I had to wait until today to release it. It’s released simultaneously on both my SmileyGamer arcade site, and on GameGarage.

For 3 months, the game will be exclusively available on these 2 sites only. After this period, it can be licensed by other sites, and after that a free version will also be created and distributed to other online gaming sites.

To end, I’d like to give special thanks to MazeMaster, who’s great song Dreams Of Above is used in the game!

Smiley Memory Reaches Beta

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Smiley Memory, my new flash game, is now in beta stage! I’ve done the highscores integration with the Smiley Gamer website, improved the gameplay and some animations, and added an intro screen. Find out more about the game here.

I’m still looking for beta testers, don’t hesitate to contact me through this form!

It’s been way too long since my last blog update. But there are good reasons: I’ve been working hard on both my new Flash game, Smiley Memory, and my Smiley Gamer online games arcade.

Smiley Memory is an action-puzzler based on the classic game of Memory. The goal is to find matching pairs of smileys, within the given time. What makes the game unique, is the added difficulty that the smileys will move around from time to time, in a number of different patterns.

Smiley Memory is currently in alpha stage, but I should be able to have a beta version by the end of this week. The most important things to do are finetuning of the gameplay, adding some animations and polishing the graphics, and adding sound and maybe music.

I’m always looking for some good beta testers, so if you want to give the game a try, don’t hesitate to contact me through this form.

Smiley Memory will be the first game to come out of the Smiley Puzzle Project. I started this project more than a year ago, and it has gone through several changes. The current strategy is to make online games is flash, that function as advergames for the Smiley Gamer arcade website. Although this is a big step away from the original plan to make downloadable games in java, the core idea to make interesting puzzle and action-puzzler games has stayed the same!

Free Game For Your Site: Enigmatica

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

The freeware version of my Flash game Enigmatica has been released on my new arcade SmileyGamer.com! If you are a webmaster, you can put this version for free on your own website or games arcade. Download the full package here.

Contrary to the version that is available for licensing, the freeware version contains advertising from MochiAds, an ad network for Flash games. It also contains logo’s from, and links to the Smiley Gamer website, and it’s integrated with the highscore system of that same site.

Check out the games for your site page at Smiley Gamer to see all our games that are available for free and for licensing.

Yesterday, I uploaded the game to Newgrounds, and it has already received some nice reviews over there!

New Online Games Arcade SmileyGamer.com Enters Beta Stage

Friday, April 13th, 2007

In case you were wondering, yes, the Smiley Puzzle Project is still alive! While the actual games are still under development, the project has gotten a new scope.

As discussed before, the SmileyPuzzleGames.com site was intended to become a small games arcade featuring my smiley related games. But instead of developing this site, it seemed like a better idea to take it a few steps further, and actually build a full-blown online games arcade.

So I registered the SmileyGamer.com domain, and started building my arcade based on PHPArcadeScript. It’s now in a reasonable state, which I just declared the beta stage, so have a look for yourself:

Some of the reasons for dropping my original plans:

  • A full-blown arcade can be used to showcase my own games to a wide audience.
  • If I can let my arcade grow and start getting serious traffic, the site can start generating some decent advertising income.
  • I will spread freeware versions of my own Flash games to other arcade sites, with links to my arcade, as a way to get more traffic.
  • Since I wont be focusing on smiley related games alone, a general games arcade is a better home for my first Flash game, Enigmatica, and my java game Bubblomania.
  • Also, I will not only make puzzle games, but other genres as well. So the SmileyGamer.com domain is better suited than SmileyPuzzleGames.com.

This change of plans also means I will be focusing my attention to webgames made with Flash, rather than downloadable games made with Java. I wrote previously about why to make this switch. I might still decide to make a downloadable version if any of my webgames becomes wildly popular, but for now, sticking to webgames makes more business sense.

If you visit the site, and find any problems or have feedback, please let me know by using the contact page on the Smiley Gamer site, or leave a comment here on this blog.
