It has been way to long since my last update to this blog. And the reason is very simple: last week I bought myself a brand new shiny iMac, with an Intel Core Duo processor!

And of course I’ve been spending way too much time installing and setting it up, and playing with all the new features of MacOS X 10.4. Yes, I was still using 10.3 on my almost 4 years old Powerbook G4…

The difference in speed is amazing. My favourite Java development environment IntelliJ IDEA is working like a charm now.

But, I have to be honest and say that there are a few negative sides also… I’ve experienced quite some crashes from various applications, and even my own game Enigmatic Movements quits with an error message. Seems like I have some investigation to do…

But I expect things to get better as more apps get compiled into universal binaries. The nice thing is that my machine will continue to feel faster as more and more software is optimized!
